Message to White Allies from A Black Anti-Racism Expert: You’re Doing It Wrong
The Dalai Lama shows us a better way
by Dr. David Campt
One of our SURJ NC members, Christie Turner, shared this very helpful article which addresses how to talk to folks about offensive comments, microaggressions, and statements that reflect living in the white supremacy culture. This perspective is Buddhist, and the guidance is universally applicable.
*ON-SITE MEETINGS POSTPONED*
Unfortunately, we have had to make the decision to postpone our upcoming on-site meetings. The corona-virus continues to affect our day to day environment, and we would never want to risk the health and safety of anyone. Here is the state public health expert’s announcement stipulating the cancellation or postponements of events.
We will be posting updates for opportunities available for those who are interested in mutual-aid volunteer sign-ups and those who would like assist folks in need in our communities on our Facebook and Twitter accounts. While we may be temporarily separated in space we are still together in spirit! |
SURJ is a national network of groups and individuals working to undermine white supremacy and to work toward racial justice. Through community organizing, mobilizing, and education, SURJ moves white people to act as part of a multi-racial majority for justice with passion and accountability.
We work to connect people across the country while supporting and collaborating with local and national racial justice organizing efforts. SURJ provides a space to build relationships, skills and political analysis to act for change. For more information about our national network, visit the national SURJ website. |
